Innovative SAFEWAY project is underway. Reviewing the progress made by the international consortium!
We first talked about the Safeway project in 2018 when we joined the international consortium as a partner of Ferrovial Agroman SA. Conceptual work related to the system and platform, intended to increase the safety of the transport network users and facilitate the management of infrastructure facilities, started in the same year. See the video, which briefly presents all the elements which make up Safeway.
The project involves the creation of an online platform based on a geographic information system (GIS) used to process and distribute information among public administration authorities, infrastructure managers, passengers and transport companies – all the users of such transport networks as roads, railways, airports and seaports. The platform will facilitate decision making as well as defining the activities and preventive measures in the scope of maintaining and using the infrastructure in emergency situations due to natural disasters, such as fire or flood, as well as those caused by people, such as accidents or acts of terrorism.
The SAFEWAY project began in October 2018. The implementation of the planned 10 task packages will last 42 months and end in 2022. As a partner of Ferrovial Agroman SA, Budimex SA will take part in four of them. For more details, see the publication Budimex and Ferrovial Agroman Involved in the EU, International Infrastructure Project, SAFEWAY
The project is co-financed from the European Commission’s funds under the Horizon 2020 program, which is the largest program in the history of the EU in the scope of scientific research and innovations.
